The CIS Observability and Monitoring (O&M) Engineering team is looking for a Datadog Engineer Remote or Hybrid to develop and deliver enterprise-wide Datadog solutions to meet the current and future needs for all of SAS Institute, Inc.
As a Datadog Engineer, you will:
- Gather requirements from various SAS business units.
- Participate in the planning, design, development, testing, and troubleshooting Datadog features.
- Provide support, including user and operational problems, documentation, customization, and utilization of Datadog features.
- Work closely with technology partners on integrations.
- Define and promote monitoring best practices across the organization.
- Assist with special projects, as assigned, in design, implementation, transition, and operational roles.
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of Datadog experience.
- Bachelor?s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
- Proven track record of designing, delivering, and administering Datadog solutions.
- Experience developing and delivering monitoring configurations as code
- Experience instrumenting Datadog in container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes) and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with distributed systems, microservices architecture, and modern application development practices.
- Willingness to be a member of an on call rotation.

Preferred qualifications
- Datadog certification achievements
- Experience with Datadog RUM and APM capabilities.
- Experience working on an Agile development team.
- Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Working knowledge of ServiceNow ITOM Event Management and ITIL concepts
- Knowledge of other monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Grafana, ELK stack, New Relic, etc.
- General knowledge of networking and firewalls
