Our team sits in iShares marketing and product, and partners closely with many other teams across BlackRock to build, socialize, and advance the adoption of foundational narratives. Our deliverables (sometimes whitepapers, sometimes internal messaging playbooks) help unify internal stakeholders and drive commercial priorities. We spend a lot of time thinking about how snappy language, probing data, and killer charts work together to support our efforts.

Two examples include work to activate around the 20th anniversary of bond ETFs and the annual report from the global head of iShares. 

Role Overview

Help create category-building narratives and content directed at internal and external audiences globally. This is a multi-faceted role that blends product marketing, cross-functional messaging, writing/editing, and detail-oriented project management. Ideal candidates will take pride in communicating complex ideas in memorable ways, have experience building consensus across many partner teams, and possess subject matter knowledge to reach professionals and non-professionals alike.

Key responsibilities:   


Collaborate with partners in product, marketing, and corporate communications to build commercial narratives that work across regions and client types.
Find news hooks that underscore the utility of iShares ETFs and indexing for achieving financial well-being.
Ensure content consistency and accuracy of messaging across product segments and client channels.

Narrative and content production and distribution:

Cultivate internal relationships to streamline messaging, design, compliance, and publication processes.
Work with internal and external design teams, as well as compliance partners, on deadline.
Help ensure the creation of sleek, on-brand publications.
Seek out ways to level-up distribution and distribution strategy to ensure more eyeballs on our content. 


Help evolve narratives to content that is strategic, engaging, and aligns with the iShares and BlackRock brand voices while expressing a point of view.
Draft and revise short- and long-form copy—from articles and messaging briefs to papers and web copy. 
Articulate with sweep and scope how iShares ETFs sit at the nexus of market and investment trends.
Adhere to and advocate for editorial stylistic consistency.   


5+ years of experience communicating about financial markets, and/or ESG and sustainability matters at an asset manager, broker-dealer, research firm, news outlet, or similar.
Understanding of financial market trends, sustainable investing, indexing, and ETFs.
Experience successfully working and delivering quality content on deadline.
Strong attention to detail, highly collaborative, adaptable; not above any task required to meet deadlines.
Eye for adhering to editorial style and design principles.
Ability to keep tabs on relevant academic and Wall Street research related to a wide range of topics and issues.  

Adept at influencing without explicit authority and working effectively across numerous teams in a large organization.
CFA certification (including CFA Institute Certificate in ESG Investing) is a major plus, Series 7 (or desire to complete) is preferred.
