Business Overview
The Risk & Quantitative Analysis (RQA) group provides independent oversight of BlackRock’s fiduciary and enterprise risks. RQA’s principal objectives are to advance the firm’s risk management practices and to deliver independent risk expertise and constructive challenge to drive better business and investment outcomes.

Behavioural Finance is a pioneering team within RQA that monitors and manages behavioural risks. The team produces innovative analytics to measure bias in investment decisions and provides recommendations evolve investment processes. The team works with portfolio managers and hedge fund managers across equities, fixed income, multi-asset and alternatives. Our analytics are based on portfolio data as well as trade rationales and physiological data, i.e., stress and sleep.

The Behavioural Finance team is looking to hire an Associate to build out the skills of the team in London. Don’t hesitate to reach out with questions if you’re unsure about whether to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

Feedback behavioural analytics to portfolio managers, explaining the evidence of the bias, the associated cost, and strategies to reduce.

Conduct research on novel data sets, such as aggregated behavioural analytics across our investment platform.

Advise investment teams on how to build a behaviorally informed investment process and reduce group decision-making biases.

Deliver seminars in portfolio manager forums, client events and industry/academic conferences.

Shape the strategic direction of the team, such as developing wisdom of the crowd aggregation platforms and algorithms, harnessing new data sources, etc.

Qualifications:

Authoritative knowledge of behavioural sciences, such as behavioural finance, behavioural economics, psychology and the judgement and decision-making literature

MA or PhD in the behavioural sciences

Ability to explain complex ideas in simple but impactful terms

Strong public speaker

Coding experience in R and/or Python is highly desirable

Experience applying behavioural science in banking, finance, marketing, development, or policy is a plus

Contributions to the academic literature in behavioural science is a plus

Knowledge of financial markets and/or risk management is a plus
