About this role

Business Unit Overview:

The Institutional Client Business (ICB) develops and maintains relationships with institutional investors including pension plans, insurance companies and industry consultants. ICB’s proposition spans the full range of BlackRock strategies and services, including both actively managed and index pooled/segregated investments (traditional and alternative investment products).

The Dutch Institutional Client Business team is responsible for maintaining and expanding the institutional book of business in The Netherlands, in asset management and fiduciary management. It works in close partnership with Portfolio Management as well as other stakeholders – such as the Fiduciary Management teams, Legal and Compliance teams, Reporting and Operational teams – in order to adapt processes to meet customer-specific and legal requirements.

Job Purpose/Background:

In this role you will be part of sales coverage teams for a portfolio of key client accounts, working in close cooperation with servicing teams on those accounts. The role offers a great learning curve in the full range of BlackRock’s products and strategies. As part of a wider client team, you will be involved in our institutional clients’ needs and will be engaged in their strategic dialogues such as on sustainability and the upcoming Dutch pension reform. The focus of the role is to proactively widen and deepen existing client relationships, by ensuring a consistent delivery of high quality and seamless service.

During the first months, the candidate will be trained within the Client Experience team, to learn about BlackRock systems and the operational side of client coverage. Thereafter, the candidate will be part of the ICB team and will work in close co-operation with the Alternatives/private markets specialist sales force, the strategists for fiduciary relationships and the various other specialists and channels across the wider BlackRock organization such as the local iShares & Wealth team.  

The role reports to the Head of the Institutional Client Business, The Netherlands.

Key Responsibilities:

Client coverage across all relevant BlackRock products and strategies including active, indexed and Alternative investment products.
Proactively building in-depth knowledge of BlackRock’s full product set and operational capabilities to aid query resolution and to assist with the design and delivery of client communication and reporting.
Ensuring familiarity with industry, regulatory and market developments.
Delivering against team sales and revenue targets by generating leads from existing clients and prospects and delivering against opportunities across the full range of BlackRock’s products and services, to include cross-selling the broader platform i.e. iShares, Cash, Transition Management and BlackRock Solutions (Aladdin, eFront).
Cultivating a constructive cooperation with other ICB team members, BlackRock’s product specialists and portfolio management departments.
Sharing information internally, ensuring that the Account Management servicing teams are fully supported in delivering excellent client service.
Participating in local business development initiatives, RfPs and new business pitches.
Maintaining accurate client information on BlackRock’s database (TeamWorld).

Candidate Profile:


Bachelor’s/master’ degree or equivalent, ideally with a focus on finance or economics
Zero to 3 years of relevant experience within a similar role.
Knowledge of asset management services and financial products, notably fixed income & LDI, equities and alternatives.
Understanding of the Dutch Institutional (pension fund and/or insurance) market, investment industry, competitive landscape.


Proactive, people-oriented team player with good listening and networking skills, an enthusiastic, upbeat communication style and a passion for success.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with proven ability to take ownership, multi-task, and prioritize effectively.
Native Dutch speaker and fluent in English.
