Aladdin Sustainability drives the business development and client delivery of sustainability data, analytics and technology as a product for the firm and its clients. The group is part of the Aladdin Business (AB) and partners significantly with several groups across BlackRock like the Aladdin Sustainability Lab (ASL) – focus on the development and delivery of sustainability data, research, analytics, and technology as a product, the firm’s FinTech business, Financial Markets Advisory (FMA), BlackRock Sustainable Investing, and our Risk and Investment Teams.
Based in (New York / London), the Vice President will join the Aladdin Sustainability team to lead a series of strategic needs across the leadership team. These needs cover team and talent strategy, commercialization Go-To-Market project management and execution, program management, operating model definition and implementation to drive efficiency, clarity of roles and responsibilities. There is further scope to participate in market research, as well as assessing data and infrastructure management.
The candidate will have the opportunity to participate in highly visible sustainability-related projects at the firmwide level and to build a strong and diverse network across the firm. Given the broad scope of the Aladdin Sustainability platform, the candidate should feel comfortable working with teams across regions and engaging across functional areas.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate an interest in sustainable investing, the use of risk and analytics in investment management, global markets, investor needs, and industry dynamics broadly; a desire to work in a fast-paced environment with a dedication to excellence, attention to detail, and sense of urgency, especially under pressure and in preparation for high visibility engagements; high-energy, positive “can-do” demeanor, and an ability to work as a great team member across multiple time zones, accept substantial individual responsibility, and proactively build value for the team; the ability to manage complex, interdepartmental projects in a professional, inclusive, fast paced fashion; the ability to communicate effectively, even complex concepts; and mastery in the creation of documents (e.g., PowerPoint decks for meetings, business memos, etc.).
Key responsibilities of the role include:
Lead the development, design, and execution of ESG and Climate risk management-based solutions for clients, designing and executing tailored and ad-hoc investment and risk analysis, driving solutions to complex problems
Lead market, industry, and analytics-based use case discussion with prospects as part of the pre-sales process
Own GTM priorities for key client segments and partner with client and product teams to effectively engage clients
Provide commercial oversight to team members locally and partner with business leads in Aladdin Sustainability to deliver on client mandates
Contribute to or lead the formulation of thought leadership initiatives and publications, addressing industry challenges and showcasing Aladdin Sustainability capabilities and solutions
Participate in firm-wide analytics initiatives and/or strategic partner relationship initiatives
Design and lead engagement / road-show strategy for key modeling and analytics capabilities
Coordinate and communicate cross-functional activities and dependencies with partner teams across BlackRock, such as Aladdin Sustainability Lab, Business Development and the BlackRock Sustainable Investing team
Partnering with members of the Aladdin Sustainability and partner teams to prepare and curate content, build executive-level presentations, speeches, and talking points about platform development and sustainability-related topics with both clients and internal audiences (e.g., GEC, ExCos, etc.)
Mentor junior members of the Aladdin Sustainability team
6+ years of experience in either investment management (Asset Management or Asset Owners), risk management, portfolio management solutions, consulting or investment banking
Ability to use data and clearly articulate complex ideas, both written and oral, to internal and external audiences across levels of seniority
Highly effective process and project management skills: coordination, execution, follow-up and attention to detail, proactively produce documents to track and report progress to partners
High degree of professional discretion, integrity and business judgment
Superior communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts simply and effectively to clients. Demonstrable leadership ability, via effective internal communications, stakeholder management and project management skills
CFA/FRM designation is desirable though not required
Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR), CFA ESG, or COSO ERM certificate, or equivalent, is desirable though not required
Keen interest in climate change and sustainability topics, financial markets and ability to comprehend the impact of market events
Knowledge of various analytics systems/tools and their underlying analytical models is desirable. Quantitative skills and familiarity with Excel and PowerPoint are a must
Enjoy a fast-paced, high-intensity environment. Work well as part of a team with minimal supervision. Well organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities
