BlackRock’s Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS) business is the investment group at the heart of BlackRock’s portfolio construction, asset allocation, and active management ecosystem. MASS draws on the full toolkit of index, factor, and alpha-seeking investment capabilities to deliver precise investment outcomes and innovative alpha insights. Our team of 300+ multi-asset investment professionals constructs active asset allocation strategies and whole portfolio solutions across a wide spectrum of commingled funds, separate accounts, model portfolios, and outsourcing solutions in the wealth and institutional channels. Currently, MASS manages over $1 trillion in assets and has a strong presence in San Francisco, New York, London and throughout Asia Pacific.
Team Overview:
The Core PM team is responsible for a wide array of portfolio management responsibilities across MASS. The team is organized globally with strong regional alignment to reflect different investing centers of expertise. The team’s primary responsibility involves partnering with various teams in designing, managing, and analyzing global, multi-asset portfolios to deliver performance to institutional and individual retail investors. The team works with CIOs and researchers on portfolio construction and new business design, contributes to investment research, handles all aspects of implementation, and drives enhancements across the PM operating platform.
Position Overview and Responsibilities:
You will be working with the global Core PM team to enhance the technology and analytical tools available to portfolio managers to drive scale, platform and process improvements, and increased investment controls.  There will be particular focus on:

Innovating in the way we use data and technology in our portfolio management and investment decision-making processes
Driving scale & automation across the team through the development of automated portfolio management workflows & analytics that use Aladdin’s core data and analytics engines
Facilitating exceptions-based monitoring of portfolio positioning, risk, and performance
Establishing standard methodologies in code development & review across the team, as well as encouraging the adoption of coding solutions through engagement and education
Collaborating with BlackRock technology partners to contribute to the development of the technology infrastructure supporting portfolio management activities
Developing connectivity with the broader group of Europe, Americas and APAC based professionals in MASS to support cross-team initiatives related to portfolio construction, manager blending, and client servicing

Strong technical & programming skills are critical for this role.
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in practical Python software development experience is required.
Experience using SQL, databases and visualizing structured data using tools such as Tableau would be valuable.
Familiarity with software engineering concepts and using cloud platforms, CICD, Git, APIs would be a plus.
Undergraduate degree in a computer science or related field is highly desirable
Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to remain focused across a wide range of portfolio types and activities.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated experience working both independently and as part of a team in a highly collaborative, global environment.
Flexible, responsive, and self-starting personality with a proven ability to innovate.
Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail and ability to multi-task, demonstrating process rigor
An appreciation of quantitative investment techniques, financial engineering, risk, analytics, and optimization techniques would be a plus.
